COVID-19 policy

While public health measures regarding the COVID-19 pandemic have subsided in the past year, the safety of our attendees, our speakers, and our team remain our first priority. As we look forward to gathering in person this November, please keep an eye on this page to stay up to date on our COVID-19 guidelines and policies for FWD50.

Your health and safety are our first priority.

In 2022, we held our first in-person event, without any reported cases of COVID from attendees. It's thanks to the tireless work of public health officials that for most people the pandemic has receded enough to allow normal life to proceed.

FWD50 is an in-person, indoor event. We also strongly encourage everyone who attends in person to get a recent vaccine or booster before joining us onsite. If you feel ill, or believe you may have been in contact with someone who's contracted COVID in the two weeks before the conference, we strongly suggest you take a lateral flow test before join us onsite.

We won't be checking vaccination documents or negative results onsite, but we're relying on your sense of community and honesty to keep your friends, and fellow members of the public service, safe. It would really suck to discover that you’re sick on the second day of the conference, have to miss the rest of the event, and also have to tell all the people you spent time with that they might have been exposed—putting a huge damper on their participation, too.

Don’t be that person.

For added protection, you may choose to wear a mask in indoor areas, bathrooms, and other spaces at the venue. We support you in taking extra precautions for your health and well-being. Respect others' health choices.

What if large gatherings are prohibited again in November?

If we’re not legally able to safely host an in-person conference during our scheduled dates, FWD50 will change to an online-only event. While we prefer an in-person conference, the team behind the event has pioneered some of the world’s leading hybrid events and has the tools and resources to deliver a high-quality online conference.

We'll be running the online portion of the 2023 conference simultaneously, and livestreaming many of the talks onto our online platform, which also offers a variety of networking features. Anyone with an in-person ticket is welcome to join via this online platform on some of the days of the event if they need to.

We’re more than happy to talk. Just get in touch.
