FWD50 Extras: The Evolving Role of the Chief Data Officer in the Government of Canada

In 2021 the Institute on Governance launched a study in partnership with four Government of Canada departments to examine the role of Departmental Chief Data Officers – a relatively new position within the federal government. Through a series of interviews, surveys, and workshops the study explored how this increasingly critical role has been evolving, and the variety of efforts underway to increase the federal government’s data management and analytics capacity.

Join Peter Bruce and Ryan Androsoff from the Institute on Governance who will share the results of this study and moderate a discussion to explore the findings and their implications for the future of government through the perspective of data leaders from Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, and Transport Canada.
